Another fun outing. Thanks to Bud VA7St for motivating me in this one, I was
going to just do a part time effort but he insisted we set a goal of 1000 Q's
and 110k points. Made both of those thanks to SO2R. Still getting the hang of
this two radio thing so I appreciate the patience. Sometimes it takes a bit
longer to reply then you would want/expect, but it sure takes the boredom away
from the Sunday afternoon.
Conditions were just so-so. At the 1800 start I was touring the shack to
another local ham and we looked at 10m and it was brimming with signals. Being
the good host I just worked a few dto demonstarte how rtty contesting works.
However after an hour by the time I got back to the radio, the band had gone
south and there was little left.
15m was stellar to North America as was 20. 80m is just painful here. 10 over 9
noise that I can not find the source for.
So ran the contest with 1 radio at 500W and the second at 80W. Surprising how
well 80W and a ground mounted vertical works.
Missed VT, ND, NU, YT, NWT, PEI(???) and NF and of course MB. Did hear KD4POJ
on 20m right next to my run frequency but couldn't get his attention in his big
pileup.
thanks for the patience and the Q's.
