Comments:

Typical January contest: low activity, noise problems, poor conditions
punctuated with a surprise or two:

Some very widespread (Wisconsin, Kansas, to Gulf Coast and as close as Ohio) Es
on Saturday evening perked up an otherwise slow contest. Signals ranged from 59+
to in the noise with wide QSB swings. Activity was low even so and most grids
beyond tropo-scatter range were worked with single QSOs.

There was a return of Es Sunday evening, but much shorter lived and signals
generally not so strong.

Had typical QRN problems, especially Sunday afternoon and evening when the
120KV lines less than a mile to the southwest decided to sing.

Thanks to all those who stuck it out to complete in-the-noise QSOs.

W3EP FN31: 6 meters: 6/6 ele and 900W
           2 meters: 11-ele Yagi and 300W
