Comments:

First night was fairly slow and I quit early as I could find no one on bands on
S/P mode and no one coming back to incessant calling...

Saturday was a bit improved and I hung in till about 10-11 local so that I
could catch some Zs and catch the 40m JA opening...

The JA 40m RTTY band is somewhat limited so it was hard to maintain a spot in
their section to collect callers.

Sunday morning after sunrise, the 10/15m bands seemed to pop open and I began
to think that I could muster a >1,000 Q count but by about 10 it seemed to
feather on out on ALL bands.

Sunday afternoon was worse and when I looked at the 'numbers' of the Solar
reports, I could not tell why.... maybe football games were more popular than
an RTTY contest perhaps. Found a few 'Sunday Drivers' out for a ride and
explaining what they needed to send took a little time and yet they STILL
couldn't tell me their age. Quite a few "NILs" on Sunday...

US ops are older than the JA's - Italians were mostly in their 40s - I was a
comparative youngster (65) to the rest of most US operators reported age.

For some reason, Writelog's Timed CQ on RTTY doesn't work - it just kept going
over and over... workaround was using microKEYERII's message with timed
keypad.

An irritating habit of new RTTY contesters is to plant themselves a 1/4kHz
above your location (using very tight filter) and calling CQ in your
face...IT's LSB - that means your signal is going DOWN in someone else's face
JUST Below you...

Thanks for the Qs and good luck next weekend for the first Big One of the Fall
Season.

WN6K, Paul
