Blew the shunt caps in the LC matching for omni mode in the new Four Square
phasing box minutes before the start. Hadn't really tested with high power
having just installed everything. Wasn't thrilled about not having omni;
replaced the caps Saturday afternoon and no further problems.
Four square direction control is handled by custom software that either reads
push-button input via parallel port or tracks the bearing of a particular
receiver on each radio from the RX antenna control system. Each radio has a
"current direction". The actual antenna direction automatically
changes when transmit focus shifts between radios. Worked very slick when
working QSOs on the second radio, which had the TX direction tracking the RX
antenna direction.
Best moment was getting called by VK4YB Sunday morning.
Looking forward to SP in a couple weeks.
