Ugh! I felt very weak the first night, and was getting a lot of RF in the
shack, which was messing up my logging computer. It took a while to realize
that a new 40M vertical dipole that I had strung from a nearby tree was
interacting with my inverted L. Once I unstrung the dipole, things seemed
better.
Overall, though, I was having major problems being heard. The band seemed very
spotty...worked France on one call, but couldn't work C6! Had trouble getting
through to some nearby states, but seemed to have little difficulty working the
east coast!
I did some preventive maintenance on my double zepp and the inverted vee before
the contest, but neither seemed to play as well as they had in previous
contests. I'll have to track down whatever gremlins are out there before CQ160
in January.
Thanks t to all for the good ears and the Qs!
