Comments:
I used skimmer spots from WE4M again this year, hence the M/S category. At
least ARRL has finally relented and will add an "assisted" category
next year. Spots are a mixed bag; a significant number of them are from
stations answering someone's CQ in addition to the usual busted call signs.
Even my call sign was busted as EW4PK one time. But I could tell when I was
spotted while running as I got maybe 3 or 4 calls in a row before it slowed
back down.
About half of my Q's were from S&Ping. When I ran I went way up in the
band above 1860 to avoid all those key clicks. Even there I would occasionally
have stations start up within my 400Hz bandwidth which I like to use to be able
to copy all those stations that come back off frequency.
I started late at around 9:30PM on Friday night as we were invited out to
dinner with some friends. But I did manage to get a bit over 300 Q's before I
faded at around 1 AM. It was slower going Saturday evening but I did manage to
get a couple of runs going.
Overall, I had fun and that is what it is all about!
73, Sam W4PK
