AL-1500 (750 W due to current voltage) yagi 5 el 10 m @ 50 ft
First participation from this new spot, just near the beach.
This secondary home is also a Ham Radio Rental for DX Holiday (more details on
QRZ.COM & on the blog)
Two first towers was erected november 26. Rustic 5 el 10 m was put on the 50
feet tower in december.
The old Ameritron AL-1500 didn't like the low voltage (only 220 volts here
since the extremely west part of France)
I can't have more than 750 Watts because the current voltage shooting down. In
the Ameriton manual, it's necessary to have "no load voltage 3600 &
full load voltage 3300 V" Here, I have 3400 & 2800 in charge!
To resolve this problem, it will be necessary to modify the transformer
connection 240 to 220 V because the 3cx1500 don't like this.
During the sunday night, one hour after the closing of the band with north
america, there was a nice opening towards the East and South East EU. Few HA,
OM, S5, I, DL ... are very strong here! Unfortunately, there was nobody. Some
QSOs were made up to 2100 z. OM2VL was very loud, I do not know what he
used?
I make a strategic mistake in the distribution SSB/CW ratio which could improve
the final score. ideally, 1/3 SSB & 2/3 CW, but I'm away!
Anyway, It was a nice contest even if the previous EU record was not exceeded.
with 100 more Qso, I could reach. Pat, TK5EP make a good job in 2000 from
Corsica island.
Special Thank to Dominique 6W1SR & Alain TR8CA for the double mults when I
was in phone!
In Brittany, we are few people practicing competitions and allows healthy
competition. I am sure that my friends from TM6M have made a big score in M/S
HP!
Now it's necessary to work hard to install some other towers and antennas.
The final setup project for Contesting and Ham Radio Rental consist :
- 50 ft tower with 4 el SteppIR, 10 to 20 m & 6 el on 6 m, VHF/UHF yagis,
- 70 ft tower for 10 m stack,
- 80 ft tower for 15 m stack,
- 110 ft hydraulic telescopic tower for 20 & 40 m,
- 4 sq on 80 m,
- Top loaded vertical on 160 m,
- beverage.
See you during the contest!
