Comments:

Well, the bands were not good despite SFI of 218. A pair of back-to-back M-class
flares ruined Saturday and conditions felt punky throughout the weekend here.
Not sure if I enjoyed it or loathed it. Probably a bit of both.

Ended up with 48 fewer Qs and 3 fewer countries than last year, for a raw score
that's down about 7,500 points. I'm happy with that, given the loss of several
hours to intense flaring on Saturday.

Thanks to VY0/VE3VID for the surprise mult, and for hanging in for many repeats
over a really lousy path.

20M was junk -- noisy and even domestic signals were down in that noise. The
20M opening EU on Sunday morning wasn't very strong, but was glad to land the
few extra countries I managed to find. 15M was quiet and held the most Qs. 10M
was very poor -- had hoped for big openings but it was a slog just working
North America.

The second-radio antenna was about as good as a short rain gutter and didn't
work worth a damn, so I ran almost all SO1R. The vertical dipole (trapped
driven from a CL-33, suspended in a tree) goes back on the pile and I'll return
to the all-band vertical with a bunch of radials on ground.

Had a tough time holding a frequency with 100W. Every time I found a gap,
within a few minutes I was surrounded by folks with wider signals than RX
filters. Fortunately, enough loud callers looking for the mult seem to do a
fine job clearing out interlopers.

Back to work after two weeks of R and R. What a fine way to finish the
holidays. Thanks for the contacts and see you in the next one.
