I posted this early Tuesday AM. Chuck G alerted me that it's not showing here.
I have no idea why not?
Left Longmont for W0DLE at 1:00 Friday...45 degrees, sunny, light breeze.
Things got dicey over Kenosha Pass, and when I arrived it was 16 degrees with
wind gusts to 50+ MPH--his drive (600 feet) totally drifted-in. The only way
for it from the county road to the house was Chuck G's ATV--and the only way
for that was me on the throttle and Chuck G PUSHING the machine!
Hadn't tried one of these single-op for too long (pehaps not long enough?) and
first attempt with N1MM. Took a while, but finally got into it enough to work 2
radios hard with no glitches. What I didn't do...was move mults around. Duh!
With multiple bands open at once...and mults counting per band...right. Only
you know what you need, and it won't happen if you don't ask. Working it hard
is great--but you have to work it smart, too. Note to self: There's no magic
to it, ya' just gotta' DO it!
So, the op didn't do justice to Chuck G's clean, efficient station, which
worked pefectly. Which didn't make it any less fun--any CW-thing that produces
1200, 1300, 1400+ single-op Q's--that'll keep an op's attention. And, it's
always a treat to hang with Chuck G and Bella the Dog, and operate his fine
station.
BTW, it was an easy, pleasant drive back Sunday AM; Not 24 hours later the
highway up there was shut down by snow and wind...
