Disclaimer: I used "Internet resources" during this contest because
it's fun - in January, I need all the fun I can get. Since the ARRL DISALLOWS
"Internet resources", unlike CQ VHF and SPRINTS, as a weak form of
protest, I will not be submitting this log. Please change the rules ARRL...
Anyway - I only have 6 & 2 in the air now at my EN52 QTH so it looks like
the new 3-band category fits best. A typical January test - very little
activity and no 'normal' propagation. However, meteor scatter conditions were
excellent Sunday morning, into the early afternoon, with several 1100-1200 mile
contacts on 2M. Thanks to the "meteor rovers" for getting out there !
6M ionscatter conditions were OUTSTANDING much of the day Sunday. At times, up
to a dozen east coast stations could be heard on CW. All were workable with a
little effort. More people need to discover and use this mode - there is
little doubt any two stations with a decent antenna and some power can work
over a 800-1000 mile path at almost any time.
See you in June from the new DM58 station !
