Comments:
It was the best of times and it was the worst of times!.....
Tough condx at the start of the contest!
Friday night we had a snowstorm right on top of us here in the Maritimes. Qrnn
was well over the S9 mark. If I had trouble hearing you, that was why.
Saturday night was much better. Things quieted down and there was just the
aurora to deal with....
There was a complete WALL to the Pacific Northwest from here during this
contest. I worked one CALIF station on Friday night and not many more on
Saturday night. One Washington and one Oregon only in the whole contest.
Never heard NEB/OKLA/UT/MT/VE5/VE6/VE7 and missed a chance at a very weak ND
and a WY station who called other stations.
I never heard KV4FZ when he called on Friday night - but worked him easily on
Saturday night.
Without question, my biggest thrill in this contest was Saturday night at 2159z
when Peter VK6APZ called me at his SR via the long path for a solid qso and
short chat. This doesn't happen very often on SSB - but I did it once before
with VK6VZ several years ago - so the path is sometimes there. But on SSB,
this is really quite a rarity to say the least.
Congrats to all those who stuck with it and made the best of it. Thanks to all
the old friends who called in to make it fun.
I had a good time despite my ears which are still ringing!
