Comments:
Storms kept me unplugged during the best openings. I guess it says something
about the south Texas drought when you're happier to have the rain than you are
sad about missing the meat of some great openings. There was a really juicy
widespread 15m opening taking shape when I unplugged Sunday morning. 80m was
disappointing, and 10m never really took off at this QTH. All in all, this WPX
was a lot of fun. It was such a pleasure to work so many really good CW ops.
The new Shared Apex Loop (SAL-30) was a dream on 40m and would have been even
more so on 80m if there had been more activity. The SAL is an INCREDIBLY QUIET
RX antenna. Plus... what a rush to "turn the beam" in milliseconds.
