About 50 years ago, I entered my first WAE from Iowa -- hand sent QTCs with my
bug.
40 years ago exactly: I operated from VP9GE's shack as W1GNC/VP9. I was staying
at a small hotel with no TV, but a bunch of us gathered around the console radio
and listened to Richard Nixon's resignation speech. This year:
100 watts, R-8 vertical and 80M inverted vee, apex at 60 feet. Tnx to all who
pulled my QTCs out of the noise. -- only 2 that just couldn't copy after I
started sending. Still fun after all these years.
