Comments:
Station is an Elecraft K3 with an Acom 2000A amplifier. Transmitting antenna is
an 8 element vertical circle array that uses 4 vertical elements at a time
which are an in-phase driven pair with two passive reflectors covering eight
directions selectable from the operating position. For receiving, using the
transmitting antenna together with one of six Beverages in full diversity mode
which is quite amazing (with two complete receivers in the K3). With the quiet
band and this antenna setup, it was possible to hear Europe (from the West
Coast) in the early afternoon (2 PM local time) both days, but was not able to
make any contacts until later in the afternoon.
Used both CW Skimmer and RBN. The new N1MM Logger+ was on one computer screen,
and the Skimmer's display was on a second screen. A third screen connected to a
second computer enabled seeing the global picture of daylight, darkness, and
position of the greyline.
Overall, this was great fun. It seemed, however, that there was less activity
than in previous years.
