Comments:
This contest is the perfect excuse for a late autumn ego trip to my den in the
hills. It is the perfect place to let body and soul delve into the magic bubble
that comes so special after some 40 hours on the air, just interrupted by a 3
hour beauty nap. At this moment all kinds of strange imaginations starts
whizzing through one's mind as you mechanically work your way through the
contest routines.
Also memorable are the reflections made when stepping outside for a necessary
errand at night, with the sounds of a cold breeze and from the waves of the
still unfrozen lake, a slight snow drift in the air, and no lights to see from
any other building or activity: It is a thrill to be here in the complete dark
at kilometers distance from the closest human and know you are there, right in
the middle of this great simultaneous global CW action.
Thanks to all those thousands of radio operators out there who make this
week-end such good fun for all of us.
Enough now of this contemplating. Maybe it is age...
