Comments:
Had not planned to operate the contest as watching grand children this weekend,
but got on to give VP9/W6PH a contact on 10 for the contest while out shopping
Saturday afternoon. 50 watts mobile and a Radio Shack stock CB mag. mount whip.
After working Kurt, conditions were good and I kept going. Made about 30 Qs
including RU0LAX (true 599 with 100w), UA0KBG, RT0F and UA0IDX. Remarkable.
That evening was watching 20 for the TI9 group and tuned down on CW. Heard DX
ops CQ'n without callers, so handed out a few Qs. Then to 40. Antenna on 40 is
the rain gutter on the house with a MFJ tuner. Many stations came back to the
first call such as EF8R, RT0F and IR1Y. Sunday morning logged several JA's.
Caught up with Kurt again on 20 and also logged KG4HF. Later on 10 worked
CN8WW to complete a mobile 10 meter contest WAC. After chasing TI9/3Z9DX all
week was able to work them on 12 meters from home an hour before they went QRT.
Whew! Went to 15 and gave Kurt another Q, then spent an hour on Z81X. The pileup
thinned briefly at 2134z and punched through for another ATNO. Finished up the
contest on 10 CW from home (16 degrees outside) and worked South America, JA's
and a few OC including KH8/K8GU and 3D2KM.
