Comments:
This was my second year participating in the GAQSP, but the first year I
participated and submitted a log. I didn't know I needed to do that last year,
but I had a ball working at NQ4I's super station with our club call, W4LHS. We
won in our class, and I really enjoyed getting a taste of what competitive
operations are like.
This was the first chance to break in my new hex beam, and it sure did a
splendid job. I had no problem running, and actually had a few pileups, even
with the band conditions as poor as they were. I had two firsts: a maritime
mobile sailing off the coast of Mexico, and an aeronautical mobile over the
Yucatan Peninsula! I learned to keep an index card for notable calls and QSO's
that I had with operators, and had the honor of talking to KG5EXY, a 10 year-old
YL. Hard to pass that voice up when you've got a pileup!
I wanted to break 600, but had to take a break for a bit to play "Geek
Squad" for a family member who had computer problems on Sunday. When I got
done with my call, my frequency had been taken. I guess I better get to work on
my CW.
Thanks for putting on a great party!
