Comments:
Decided to try this contest last weekend but had no antenna for 6m. Looked in
the ARRL Centennial Handbook and found a 3el yagi design by Dean, N6BV. I
decided to scrounge aluminum tubing from an old Hy Gain tribander. Dean was
kind enough to remodel the design using larger diameter tubing. It all came
together and had it up only about 12 ft on a section of TV tower. Was going to
use an ancient TR44 rotor but it wasn't working. Had to rotate with a rope tied
to the boom. Got my exercise in though. Highlight was working EA8DBM on cw. Not
much else to crow about as conditions into NFL were up and down.... mostly
down. A late opening on Sunday provided much needed Q's all into New England.
Was fun while the band was open. Thanks to Dean, N6BV and to all for the Q's.
