Comments:
Low power and little antennas make for small scores! There was an uncertainty as
to who was going to get on from Marin, so I decided to stay home and try to give
out some Q's. Sunday turned out to be a bust, at least at this QTH. Very poor
conditions. I was amazed that my short end-fed wire on 40 and 80 worked! In
fact, the highlight was VY1JA answering my CQ on 40M Saturday night. The
interesting issue with a minimal signal is the choice to either S&P and not
be heard or CQ and not be heard! I would imagine that my time (such as it was)
was about 80% CQing and 20% S&P. I found that to be a more productive
method of operating from here. I spent a little time Saturday night tracking
down some stray RFI on 80M. The wire is in my garage attic that is on the other
side of the wall from the radio room. CC&R living certainly has its
challenges. But I'm thankful that I can get on and was glad to be able to hand
out some Q's. Thanks for the contacts....
