Comments:
Conditions weren't favorable for long distance contacts, which was unfortunate
for a contest that's truly a DX contest, as opposed to the international (read
North Atlantic rim) QSO parties that dominate.
I was going to skip the last segment (Sunday morning 4am to noon locally) but
woke up early and noticed a good 15m opening to Europe was in the making, so I
operated the remainder of the contest. Still, this was my lowest number of
QSOs in recent years. No 10m at all. 62 on 10m last year out of 231 Qs. That
made a big difference.
I wish this contest was promoted more and I hope that all those advocates of
distance scoring contests who are RTTY ops participated. The contest could
also use more awards to encourage greaer participation. Like country awards
for a minimum number of contacts (say 100 or 150). And maybe a greatest
distance per contact award. Anything to liven up a good contest with great
potential.
Thanks for the Qs.
73,
Ken, AB1J
