Comments:
I started 4 hours late after a long day in town but still ended up putting in 32
hours of operating time, almost exclusively from point-and-click operation in
the Available Multiplier and Band Map sheets.
My 6 Band Amp died so I substituted an old SB-220 which has some sort of input
impedance mismatch problem on 10M causing the exciter to go into SWR cutback
resulting in a maximum of 450 Watts and requiring retuning whenever changing
frequency more than 100 KHz on 10M. Weird. And then I had to operate barefoot
on 160M.
The high bands were incredible. 15 was so hot on Saturday that I didn't get to
10M until very late. On Sunday I went to 10M early and was rewarded with 2 QSOs
in Zone 16 (RU1A and US5D).
The Low Bands were 'Difficult' at best, especially using only simple wire
antennas. It was clear that the Europeans were having a hard time hearing NA
through all the broadband noise/splatter from EU. Absorption on 80M made
propagation difficult until after 0400Z.
