Comments:
My first time running SOLP from home QTH for ARRL SS. Some notes:
* As usual running LP requires a bit more finesse and patience. LP + dipole is
not a killer combo.
* There were some monster signals running QRP, I was really impressed by them!
* I had to work, so my operating times were split up into small segments. I
figured since I was not able to work the full allotted 24 hrs, I should try for
max mults instead. So I decided to just spend most of the contest listening
just for new mults and not going for max Qs & mults. Even with this
single-minded dedication to mults I was not able to get a sweep, but only was
able to get 82, missing NT which I never heard.
* I did do a couple of runs just to see what kind of rates I could get with
such a long exchange, and maxxed out around 140/hr., the long exchange sure
limits your rate! I tried speeding up to 30WPM to get more rate, but so many
people were asking for repeats it actually slowed me down. 26WPM seemed to be
a good speed for that exchange in general, resulting in few requests for
repeats.
Thanks to all who gave me mults and Qs, it was indeed fun, and I was really
impressed by how nice and patient everyone was, given how long the exchange
is!
See you all in CQ WW CW!
