Comments:
The first real contest for our 14 years old daughter Xenia. She made her license
only 3 months ago. New Zealand rules require newbees to stay out of 4-25 MHz for
the first 3. So far she only operated on 160, 80 & 10. In time for the CQWW
that period was over. Birgit (ZL2YL) and I (ZL3IO) were mentoring her. The
initial goal was to make lots of new countries. After some hours S/P we started
calling CQ. Due to the fact that we got our fingers into the action a few times
to help we decided to go in M/S category. The high bands (when open to NA &
US) gave her a nice and steady stream of callers. She managed easily managed to
keep a rate between 50-100 Q's/h. DXcluster spots were slowing things down as
they created to big pile ups for her. She has done a fantastic job! Not in any
dream I was expecting such a result. She worked 125 total/92 new DXCC's during
the contests.
73 from a very proud dad...
