Comments:
Lots of lightening static crashes and QSB on signals. Noise floor was also
higher than it has been on 160. Stations heard and worked first four hours
mostly east coast and or within 1,000 miles. Finally heard and worked west
coast after midnight. K7RAT was first west coast heard and worked. Lightening
crashes seemed to have tapered off a bit sometime time after midnight and high
band noise also reduced about 10DB or so and I was able to hear another level
of signals.
Was hoping for 100 grids. Ended with 74 and two 12 pointer DX. KV4FZ, booming
signal, and NP2X, also a 12 pointer. Also worked a few 9 pointers along west
coast. Thanks to all the stations that hung in there, sometimes for many
repeats on my weak signal, to make the Q. Always a fun contest to play in.
Operating conditions: K3S 100 watts to a W8AMZ shortened half sloper at 35'
apex down to 2' above ground. TX and RX antenna. N1MM+ logging.
