Comments:
Conditions this weekend seemed considerably better than during the CW contest,
especially on 10M where propagation was really weird, opening to parts of EU
and the Caribbean but NOT all areas at once, and then shifting around after 20
minutes or so. Even though my rate dropped while on 10m, I stayed for the
short openings in order to pick up the more difficult areas in Northern and
Eastern Europe including LA OH SM SP ES LY YL UA UA2 LZ YO YU. The only Asian
I worked on 10m was in HZ but I wonder if I missed A6 A7 A9 TA 4X 9K and JA
which were all worked on 15m.
As usual, most of my contacts came from pointing and clicking on the Available
Multiplier and Bandmap spots except on 10m where I often resorted to actually
turning the dial because so many spots were inaudible at times (e.g. TO5A was
59 but PJ2T and P40s were not even detectable until later). Weird.
It was interesting to note that I had almost the same number of stations worked
on 4 or more bands as on CW (100 vs. 102) but had twice as many 5 Banders on SSB
than CW (49 vs 24). Activity and Multipliers were plentiful until I retired at
midnight Saturday with 1000 Qs and 402 mults. On Sunday, the available
multiplier sheet was often empty for long periods of time on 20 and 15m and I
would be forced to change bands after sweeping the Bandmap dry working all the
fresh-meat I could find.
Multi-Band QSOs were as follows:
6 Bands = 15 (w/100w due to dead amp - heard several EU but only CR2X in log)
5 Bands = 49 (vs 24 on cw)
4 Bands = 36
3 Bands = 71 (LOTS of S.A. on 10,15,20 EU divided between 10,15,20 and
40,20,15
2 Bands = 106 (same as on CW)
1 Band = 481
Same equipment as on CW
