Comments:
It was certainly a challenge to run 10mb single band at this point
of a solar cycle, but I wanted to see how the recent 10mb propagation
would be. Besides, I knew that I would not be able to sit for full
48 hours due to work commitment.
Zero North America station (!) for the first time in several years,
although I heard NA6O (N6RO) for a few hours weakly via skewed path.
Unfortunately, he did not hear me with my TB antenna. South Americans
were not strong, either, and I never heard any PY stations via short
or long path.
The propagation toward Europe was relatively favorable both days.
Mostly southern Europeans, but on Sunday at around 14UTC, we had
a short polar opening toward Benelux areas, and LX7I was worked.
I also called OP4K and PA3AAV, but they never heard me.
The QSO number above does not tell the whole story, because the
QSOs include 83 local JAs. Most of the it was about empty CQs or
unanswered calling of a weak station. All in all, however, I
enjoyed sporadic paths that suddenly appeared and disappeared.
It is probably a similar excitement to that of the "magic" 6m
band.
Hope to see you again on 10mb during All Asian DX CW Contest
in mid-June.
Best 73,
Icko, JA1BPA
