Comments:
A historical session. Due to an X2-flare there was a blackout
around 0900Z, and while I was at the swimming hall just before
this 1300Z session another X-flare emerged. It went literally
over the top. There is not even a letter assigned for flares
of this magnitude it seems! Well, at the start of the session
14 MHz was dead. The D-layer was thick still while the flare
was decaying. Then SA6G and later in the hour many SM's due to
my low antenna, and high take-off pattern. MUF's were high due
to the blast, but attenuation too... Gradually conditions went
up, first to UA6HZ and UR5MM... fourth QSO only at 1320Z with
LY/UX1HW.... CQ CWT calls were attracting some random callers
facing an empty band, so the jury is free to subtract some half
a dozen of my QSO's. A nice surprise was WJ9B as the only USA
signal... and 4Z4DX at the end --- Our thoughts are with some
CWops in the Caribbean losing their antennas to Hurricane Irma
at this moment. Together with this X+ Solar flare some historical
happenings are stacking up today.... 73, Zaba OH1ZAA
