Comments:
Rain for 2 days, 59 degrees at noon on Friday. By 6pm it was snowing and the
temp was down around 29 on it's way to 12. Woke up to ~ 18" of
"partly cloudy" in the driveway, finally stopped snowing about 9. By
11, had the driveway clear but the roads were only fair. 4 of the 5 ops
actually made it by contest start (barely).
Then I found that all 5 of the Ring rotators and the top 10 meter rotator were
all frozen solid as nothing had time to dry out before the cold moved into WNY.
I think we could have worked a few more on 10 if we could point an antenna a
little better, but mostly, we were OK with the positions, except for one of the
15 meter beams that is pointed at EU.
Having said that, everything else worked flawlessly, the low bands rocked and
all of our RX arrays were terrific as usual. We missed Dean, NW2K who couldn't
get here, so he stayed home and worked us on all bands EXCEPT 10!!!!! Our only
QSO on 10 was VE3EJ up in Ontario.
Thanks to all who participate in this very fun event.
Jeff - W2FU
Our plan is for NW2K and I to operate the SSB as a 2 op M2 all remotely. I will
be back in FL and Dean will be at home.
