Comments:
Going into this one with great conditions on the week leading up.
Boy how quickly that changes!
Just 2 hours before the start, NA sigs on 40 & 80 were excellent and easy to
work with the 5 Watts.
Between then and the start it all went pear shaped.
The first night was a real slog, battling with the high powered stations and
with bad propagation made feel like tearing my hair out (if i had any!)
During the first day on 20 it was highly noticeable that it was going to be
difficult there too. I plugged on and tried to grab as much as i could.
Things definitely improved by the second night on 40 & 80, but again by
0100z sigs had basically disappeared and i went to bed instead of depressing
myself any more.
20 was much better on Sunday, opening pretty early and good signals. However the
stations i was calling were being called by hundreds others. So again difficult
to pick up the Q's
I decided to call it quits around 1600z.
I sent TT5 as the exchange instead of just a regular 5, maybe it helped, maybe
it didnt.
I want to thank everyone who had the patience to get the call and the exchange
correct, very much appreciated.
Sure would have been a lot more fun if the sun didnt take a dump on us!
FT1000MP - 5 Watts - Steppir DB18 @25 feet (low height due to strong winds) , 2L
for 40m , Dipoles. N1MM+
See you next time (hopefully more stable propagation!)
