Comments:
Really good start, with 34 in the first 15 minutes, but hit a rocky stretch from
1245-0249 with only 3 contacts. That did me in. My friend KZ5D roared ahead.
Also, am finding 20 meters to have good QSO numbers but thin mults .... see
below for my antenna woes.
Tnx to K4OAQ, Fritz, for a four bagger. Kudos to W4NZ, K8MR, KW8N, and KZ5D for
three bands
Five minute segments: 12, 11, 11, 8, 3 (!), and 6. Things get rocky for me on 80
and 160 as I'm just too far from most people to win jump balls and get CQ
answers.
Spent five very hot and difficult hours outside in sweltering heat today taking
down one of the tri-banders and the small 40 meter yagi for repairs to the 40
meter antenna. The project ran into difficulties, and both antennas are on the
ground for additional work. I can't hear much to the western US as a result,
and missed a number of contacts on the left coast, so QSOs and Mults took that
hit. Things will not be fixed by the IARU contest next weekend, so will take
part feeling not quite "whole." GL to everyone, and especially the 62
WRTC teams over in Germany. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go in any capacity
because of my wife's health issues. Hopefully all will travel safely and have a
great time.
73, Jim N3BB
