Comments:
I geared up for operations on 80-40-20m, both cw and ssb. Pretesting looked
good but when I tried to load into the NVIS cross dipoles ( apex at 24') for 40
and 80m, the 40m antenna kept tripping the amp. It worked fine the other day
BUT...I suddenly became a one band entry ( 80m).
But at the bottom of the sunspot cycle, that wasnt a bad place to be. I give up
some RATE but maybe gain on MULTS. So what the heck.
The T storms didnt affect Licking Co too much. QRN was S 3-7 on the SAL-30 rx
antenna on 80m. None of the T storms came thru this area, but still the weaker
stations were tough to copy. But sitting on one band, I had plenty of time to
S&P for mults.
80m was open all day though not at mind-blowing rates, so I kept hopping from
ssb to cw and back. It let me score my highest county total ever: 64!
2017: 345 Q's and 147 mults working 80-40-20m both modes.
2018: 236 Q's and 129 mults in what was essentially a more casual monoband two
mode effort. ( Around 11:25pm with 80m pumped dry of new mults & contacts,
I did decide to fire up the 2 el phased verticals on 40m. No Euros were heard
and I kept getting called by West Coast stations so I pointed SW and let fly,
adding 31 Q's in 35 minutes. Not a bad finish. I can only wonder what might
have been, with time better spent on 40 and 20 when 80m slowed down.

80/40 NVIS cross inverted vees (apex 24')
40m pair of phased qtr wave GPs
20m pair of phased qtr wave GPs (not used)
54 ft apex quarter wave INV-L's for 160/80 (not used)
SAL-30 RX antenna.
Losing 40m all day, and chosing to ignore 20m, dropped my total
