Comments:
Since last week there has been a lot of political chaos in Haiti, with
violent protests, closed businesses and blocked roads. The internet to
the RemoteHamRadio HH2AA station was intermittent, just coming back on
Friday AM before the contest. No guarantees how long this operation was
going to last.
The station is solar/battery powered and is amazing. A big thanks to Ray
W2RE and the guys at RHR. I had a great time using it in CQWWCW and again
had another great outing this weekend. There were only 5 or so internet
disconnects, the longest was 10 minutes.
Proceeds go to the Haitian Air Ambulance Service. A link to their website
is on the HH2AA QRZ.COM page.
The operation was 99% running. It is very challenging chasing spots and
getting the HH2 prefix copied at more than 16 WPM. I gave up trying many
times. S52AA is in a lot of logs.
I read a lot about Haiti in the news last week. A very difficult situation.
