That was a poor outing considering I put in my usual hours for WPX CW. Just
couldn't find stations at the rate others in Zone 3 were working 'em this
weekend. Felt weak almost all the time, despite better gear this year (new amp
and radio) and the same antennas as the past several years.
Unlike last year the EU openings were mostly super-stations only for me, with
few second- and third-layer stations worked. What are usually very good final
hours to EU and JA on Sunday landed very little in either of those directions.
Hence a scarcity of multipliers. Second worst high-power result ever for me.
Only 2010 saw a lower HP raw score.
But as you can tell, I'm not going to complain. It was rainy outside anyway, so
better a weekend at the radio than binge-watching TV. Got a few things done in
the shack as rate was so slow. Even tidied up a little around here. You'd hardly
know it, my lovely wife says.
Hoping that was the last WPX CW of the solar minimum and we're on the rise to
better things next year.
