SO1R operation. Other than a 58 QSO score in 2017 just fooling around this is
the first time I've really put a big time effort into SS ssb. If I didn't have
the dvk I don't think this would have been possible with the amount of running I
did. Had a lot of fun and worked many friends who I generally only contact on
cw. I apologize to those I neglected to acknowledge as after so many hours the
callsigns all started sounding very familiar like I knew everybody. I did cheat
and looked at QRZ for a few names but I have always been rough remembering
names. I thought I was good at recognizing callsigns until the point I reached
after too much time spent in a domestic phone contest. I'm a cw guy but scared I
might do something like this again.

I sure wish more guys would spot people they work when answering a station in a
phone contest. For as much running as I did it would have been nice to get
spotted a little more. It sure makes for some nice spurts after a spot unless of
course you get spotted with your callsign being wrong. I only logged a small
number who weren't real sure if they worked me when I told them we already
worked. The others told me not to bother and I didn't.

I only called 2 guys who turned out to be dupes because of bad spots. One was a
K9 who was spotted as an N9 and the other was KH7XS who was spotted as KH7HS. I
found a few others on my own but those two I mentioned were on Sunday afternoon
and I was multi tasking watching football and they slipped through the cracks of
my mental skimmer. Pesky things they can be.

Thanks to those guys who on Sunday night work a few of us serious SS people and
have low serial numbers. They are doing us a big favor. Instead of breaking off
my run when contacts got to be every 2 or 3 minutes I kept letting n1mm and my
dvk call another CQ and just watched some more football highlights. It paid off
in the end after realizing I would be tuning the band and finding everybody I
already worked anyway. I wound up working 3 or 4 stations in the last half hour
by tuning vfo B to a spot I needed and kept my CQ freq going thanks to the dvk.
