Comments:
I had been planning to put up another 20m dipole broadside to JA before the
contest, but work and travel conspired against me with that and other plans.
Considering conditions, I'm not sure the lack hurt me materially. I heard
Japan on 40 and 80...but not 20.
In the couple of weeks leading up to contest start, I was tempering my
expectations, based on the solar minimum, and conditions during the warm-up last
month. But 20 was decent, considering, and it was nice to have 15 make an
appearance on Sunday. Why, 10m even teased a little.
The low bands were wonderful Friday night and Saturday evening, but after
that...
Still, if someone had told me that I'd break 100 countries on two bands heading
into this contest with my station, I would have thought they were being
excessively optimistic. But, I managed 80 more Qs, 158 more mults, and 300k
more points than last year. And most important: I had fun.
