2019 a year to forget.
Everything began just after CQ WW CW 2018, some bowel pain, on the left side, on
my head nothing to worry about. In summary, 2019 produced 11 minor surgeries and
2 big surgeries and almost at the end of the treatment by the begging of
november, when everything was going according to our plans, another problem
appeared on the same spot, so had to go urgently to surgery on the 5th and 12th
November. And of course, 1 problem never comes alone, my best friend and my
company every day, our dog Luso, a weimaraner passed away on the 18th November
at the age of 4. Life has been hard this year, anxiously waiting for 2020.
This contest result is dedicated to my loving dog LUSO, who passed away on the
18th November, so young at the age of 4 years old (human years). Wherever you
are, we will meet again.
Having been through hell with my health I did not expect to do this contest at
100%. Nurse came every day of the week, including during the contest, to make
bandage, also, half of the contest was done either standing or kneeling with 1
knee, and sometimes both.
Mom Celeste and Dad Jose CT1CJJ, as usual, had everything taken care of,
antennas were perfect, radials were laid down, station was running smooth like a
rock. I cannot thank them enough how much they support this madness which we are
addicted to... it is almost like a drug, no matter how you are, even if you are
ill, one cannot miss CQ WW CW.
Regarding the contest:
Friday evening we had 80Km/h wind gusts so we decided not to take any risk and
we lowered both crank up towers till the morning. This was not a big deal
because the remaining antennas for 40 80 160 were not tower dependent, only the
40m 4 elem was used at low height for the 1st night.
1st hour sucked because I had an issue with microham uROUTER, it did not allow
me to go over 38 WPM... so spent abt 20 minutes figuring what the hell was
happening. so 1st hour was around 160q/h instead of the 300 I did predict.
Low bands were amazing, 2nd night was a bit lower but still good.
Never worked so many BYs stations on 80m
Never worked so many JAs on 40m Long Path in the morning and Short Pass in the
evening, both nights.
Worked 3 USA on 10m VERY VERY LOUD on saturday and no others showed up, even if
I cqed for a while. On Sunday tried to move a few USA from 15m to 10m without
success.
Worked about 80% 2BSIQ and 20% SO2R because lots of unanswered CQs, Mult hunt
was more productive sometimes, especially on 10m and 160m.
I want to thank all the stations that QSYed for the mult, tried to be the most
efficient as possible, remember some nice moves, ZD7W, 3B8M, 9G5W, ZF1A, TI7W
and a few others. moved to as many bands as possible.
Congrats to Jose CT1BOH for amazing score and of course to Chris KL9A for the
impressive show with 11400 QSOs.
73s to all and cu next one.
