Comments:
Great to see excellent conditions return to 160m after a 10 year lull.
Conditions for the 3 CQWW were terrible here in northern Alberta due to the
recurrent coronal hole so nice to see the ionosphere so quiet. Only missed
VO1/VO2 for a clean sweep. Conditions to EU were interesting and variable. On
Friday evening only LY7Z at 0200 and OM2VL at 0300 were worked until EU sunrise
at about 0700z when a number of stations made it into the log. On Saturday
morning only a couple of northern EU stations were worked. Saturday evening was
different with a few EU stations worked throughout the early evening and nothing
at EU sunrise. On Sunday morning quite a few northern EU stations worked, mainly
short path. Quite a few JA’s both mornings. Great to hear JT1CO and BD4WN
with excellent signals on Sunday morning. Never heard anything from the Pacific
except KH6 all weekend.
As always Don was a great host making the station available and making sure I
ate and slept.
Equipment: ICOM IC-7800 and EMTRON DX-4 amp
Antenna: 4-square and multiple beverages and a DKAZ.
