Comments:
Well, this was fun! It was my first stab at VHF contesting after encouragement
by K7YDL and his brother and co-conspirator K7ZS. After working for a few hours
on Saturday from my QTH "down in the hole in Lake Oswego" and pretty
much falling flat on my face, I took YDL's advice - ELEVATION, ELEVATION,
ELEVATION and traveled up to Council Crest. Running 10 then 50 watts with an Elk
dual band antenna and a battery, I was able to run, picking up 83 Q's in 3.5
hours. Once home, the hardest task was transcribing my chickenscratch paper log
to electronic. So, after dipping my toe into the VHF waters, I'm deciding to
dive in for the next contest. Many thanks to YDL and ZS...you've just given me
yet another electronic gateway drug....
