Murphy bit me big time this weekend. My remote tuner failed. Only way to get
on 20 was to use the remote tuner and the radio internal tuner. The radio was
happy, but the SWR was over 3:1 at the antenna. 40 meters was worse. I could
only run with the radio power folded back to about 50 watts with reflected power
of about 20 watts. Surprised I made any contacts at all. On 80 meters, my
remote tuner still worked, but this is a compromised situation with only a 20
foot vertical and big base loading coil. I worked way too hard. Many multiple
call attempts, many repeats.
