Comments:
Long time since have tried SAC "more seriously". The main idea was to
test and try DXLog, as have been mostly N1MM user at home. A few issues
appeared, but otherwise without bigger problems. The bandmap is much better of
course in DXLog, missing the scrolling feature of it in N1MM, where you are
"tied" to your QRG and can not go "behind the corner"...
A few comments on the test as well. First - totally a S/P test, had just one QSO
on CQ and that was a dupe… As skimmers are allowed now, then it seems that
more than 50% of the participants are not ready for the pile-ups that take place
immediately when "fresh meat" is "thrown" on the band, hi!
Where are all the skilled Scandinavian contesters (there are more or them in
reality, but many are not QRV - this is your MAJOR contest, when then, right?)?
I estimate the overall activity rather modest, so, if not other goals to follow
(e.g. testing something), it tends to be a bit boring to spend hours for that
purpose. To cut the long story short - the idea to reform SAC more seriously was
"around" already ca 20 years ago, but it never happened. Seems that
our ageing community is more and more affecting such regional contests and a 24h
single mode event is something that a small target area like Scandinavia is not
providing enough pace for. A good night sleep (as the bands totally closed for
the short distance here) is a positive aspect in all that, hi!
CU in the fall!
73s, Arvo
