KX3 to a horizontal dipole and occasionally a vertical dipole, 5w, CW. This was
more fun than the FCC and its Canadian counterpart (ISED? RAC?) should allow.
Almost every BC station I could hear came back to me, some several times, to
complete the exchange. Saturday afternoon I started out on 20 m with the
vertical dipole, which is not the best for that band usually, not realizing
which antenna I was using, and almost immediately bagged four stations. I kept
switching between the vertical and horizontal for the rest of the party. Vert
did pretty well on 40 and 15. Most challenging Q was with VE7YL who was in the
weeds but kept with me and we got the exchange completed. Thanks! A couple of
two-banders with VA7RR, VA7ST and (I think, anyway) VE7UF rounded out the
weekend for me. Also this same weekend, I participated in the MN and VT QSO
parties; I want everyone to know that I expressed my solidarity with my northern
comrades by shoveling the walkway outside my house Sunday morning after the
(very rare) snowfall we had late Saturday night. What a party! 72/73 de KI4MZC
