Comments:
Got two more beverages taken down and lots of branches picked up. My stuff is
out of the way and ready for spring planting, but rain, cold, and maybe snow
expected. The 700 foot run of coax to the European beverage had about 200 feet
of insulation chewed off - varmints! I can run cable TV hardline along the
property line, but the farmers plow about 3 feet deep at times.
Low power. Amp in for repair. We had a power failure this afternoon and it
roached the N1MM configuration. Thanks to W2TP for dialing in and fixing the
setup. The wind is howling - 57 mph gust and the new headphones made it
perfect!
Storm expected in a few hours. Started on 40 because it was -120dBm and 80 was
-90dBm with fluctuating burst of about 15 db. After 10 minutes only 8 QSOs for
a rate of 42/hour. Went to 80 at 0311Z and camped out at 3.530. The rate
started to pick up and had 42 QSOs the next 16 minutes for a rate of 160 an
hour. This is almost my high power rate! Cumulative contacts:
0311-0333 54 QSOs 151/hr.
0311-0348 86 QSOs 139.5/hr
0311-0355 103 QSOs 141.61/hr
0311-0359Z 113QSOs 142.3/hr
I surpassed my goal of 100 QSOs.
Looking forward to next week. With all the activity I still am trying for 200 an
hour with high power. (so far 191 is best)
Time to start building up the simple SO2R. No luck in finding a crew to build a
130 ft rotating tower and a short tower for PY & LU. I need to use up 10
monobanders.
