I had very limited time for this one + my Orion was receiving some TLC for the
last month or so (before it suffered the breakdown, last contest I was in was SS
CW), so I just needed to run it through the paces to see if it recovered and
confirm that the reports of its death were greatly exaggerated. As a result of
the circumstances I do not really know if the conditions were that bad or my
antenna sucks on 10 m (using 80 m vertical on 10 m is never a good idea) or my
radio was the culprit (I do not think so, I think it is back to being its former
self). That I have had arthritic pain in my left thumb from fruitless twirling
of the VFO knob while looking for any signal on 10 is obvious. I happen to think
that this was because there were no signals to be heard on 10 with an 80
vertical. What I heard I worked :^)
