The first several hours were as follows:
125
106
108
96
53
89
Very few EUs were worked during the sunset opening. After the first few hours,
I moved up the band and established a slow, methodical EU run. Many fills were
required, as the signals were affected by both QRN and extremely rapid QSB.
Often, the QSB would cause a signal to vary by a few S units while an individual
character was being sent. Pretty wild stuff. EU did not seem to be hearing me
that well.
At bedtime Saturday morning, I had managed to work 215 EU's. I had 968 QSOs, 49
countries and 55 states with a score of 408,408. The West Coast was coming in
nicely. It was fun working so many stations in CA and Washington. Worked four
or five VE7 and a few KH6 as well as a ZL. VE6 was quite available. But no JA
or VK Saturday morning. After the first night, I was missing SD, VE4, VE5, VO1,
VO2 and all the exotic VE provinces that I have never ever worked.
The second evening was mostly frustrating. I created another slow, methodical
EU run well up the band but things just were not going normally. I struggled to
put another 77 EU's in the log for a contest total of only 292. Finally worked
VE5 but still missed the others. Really love those VE contacts!
Thanks for all the contacts.
73,
Peter K3ZM
