Comments:
Madison W5MJ/V31IT got a minor bug and had to pull out at the last minute, but
we soldiered on. John WC0W/V31TP figures he's done ARRL DX CW down here for
more than 20 years. Robert K5PI/V31AT logged his 14th visit. Keith VE7KW/V31WK
joined us for the second time.
Ours is a Field Day operation with an A3S tribander and wires. The wires have
expanded a bit in recent years with a 2 element wire beam for 40, 80M inverted
vee, an inverted L for 160, and a pennant receive ant.
We had a great time again – 10M was unBELIZEable! We went there at 1430Z on
Saturday morning and didn't touch another band for more than six hours. 40M was
also great on Friday night, although we probably should have done some 160
early. We focused on 15 on Sunday, but conditions were a little odd. Keith
said the band was “winking” . We'd repeatedly get a burst followed by a
lull – not just packet spots bursts but apparently propagation.
Thanks to John's wife Leigh WC0T for logistics support. She's a great sport and
knows the code! She jumped in and made a few Qs during the slower times. See
you next year!
