Comments:
Despite minor failures (one computer, two primary amplifiers, one antenna
combiner), noise and rotator problems from winds and rain, we had a great
time and increased our total score over last year by 65%.
10m: 800% increase in QSOs, JA openings both days for 30-60 minutes, no EU,
AF.
15m: 370% increase in QSOs, 300 EU, 500 JA shows the start of the upswing
in prop.
20m: 25% increase by Contesting Hall-of-Fame IRON MAN, Bob Cox K3EST, on
our bread & butter band. No dark hour openings to anywhere.
40m: 20% decrease in activity on this band, but good openings to EU, both
days, short and long paths, good JA rates.
80m: About the same as last year in QSOs, fewer mults, due to bad QRN
Saturday nite, and less than competitive power output. Three LP EU QSOs
Sunday by our young talent and tower climber, Denny, KX7M. Visiting guest
JG3EIQ greatly helped our JA totals on Sunday AM.
160m: OF station owner did this QRN gig to evaluate the new wire antennas
on TopBand. Doubled last years mults, and JA QSOs went from 5 to 95,
thanks to new beverages - wkd a few 2 and 5 watt stns. 4 Square
construction project delayed by El Nino - we've had rain on 17 of 22 days
this month.
