*There*   are the keys:   it is NOT a linear amplifier and it is NOT
easily QSYd.   And while we are at it, the modulator itself does
not enter into the picture.  RCA correctly claimed 90% (or
better) efficiency in the PA itself.  I have seen such efficiencies
in an AM rig myself.  But they were "ordinary" AM rigs, fixed-
frequency and not a piece of cake to tune.
