This problem occurred in the ghost of Art Collin's, my 30 S-one.  Cleaned the 
t/r relay contacts with Caig Chemical's De-Oxidt, all was well (for a while.)
Caig chemicals can be found on the web, it is also sold under various other 
labels.  One is GC chemicals "De-Ox-It."

  Oops, I thought you said it HAD been done!  This is the way the vacuum relays 
  tend to fail, but in the case of the stock relay, you might need to clean the 
  receive contacts.  The QSK mod is very worthwhile, in my opinion -- even if 
you 
  operate SSB it's nice and quiet.
