George,
I had a Medtronics on-demand pacemaker implanted on September 15, 2011 and I've
never noticed any problems when I'm in a high RF environment. I don't think an
amplifier can cause a problem. Maybe the RF it puts out can cause a problem,
but I've never experienced one when running about 500 watts on 80 meters with
the antenna about 95 feet from my shack.
I plan to run 1.5 KW one of these days and I don't expect to experience a
pacemaker malfunction as a result of the higher RF field.

Subject: [Amps] Experience with Heart Pacemakers?
My Cardiologist has recommended that I consider having a Pacemaker installed.
After reading some of the pamphlets from a couple of the Manufacturers, I came
away with the impression that they don’t mix well with higher power RF
amplifiers.
I be interested in hearing the experience of those with this dilemma – both
ways i.e.
What amps do not interfere with which Pacemakers?
What Pacemakers do best with most amps?
Maybe there is a thread on this subject but I didn’t notice one?
Either online or off is okay.
Hate to think about giving up my DXing hobby with QRO!
