I think heavy/light refers to the effect of the load resistance seen at the
plate. Less load C means lower plate resistance. I'm not sure how the terms
heavy and light might have come into use, but the effect is similar to what
you see when putting a load on a transformer, even of the mechanisms are
different. A lower load resistance reduces the voltage swing and dissipates
more power. We would talk about the transformer being loaded more heavily
than with a higher value resistor.
